Modi, Jordan King discuss broadening ties, fight terrorism

Amman, Feb 10: India and Jordan will consult and coordinate on fighting terrorism and promoting security in West Asia. 

This follows talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and King Abdullah II of Jordan on Friday.
Jordanian news agency Petra said the two sides discussed ways to broaden cooperation between Amman and New Delhi.
Mr Modi voiced India's desire to cement ties with the Kingdom, noting the scheduled visit of King Abdullah II later this month and its positive impact on relations.
"Had a wonderful meeting with His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan. Our discussions today will give great strength to India-Jordan bilateral relations," Modi tweeted after meeting the King.
Modi's first visit to Jordan is the first by an Indian prime minister in 30 years. 
Talks between the two leaders covered the Palestinian icause and Jordan's role in protecting Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, based on the Hashemite custodianship over the shrines.
Acting Prime Minister Mamdouh Abbadi, the Royal Court chief, the minister of foreign affairs, the director of King's Office and Indian Ambassador to Jordan, Shubhdarshini Tripathi took part in the talks. UNI
