New Delhi, Feb 10: With Assembly polls in Mizoram likely to be held by the end of this year, Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla claimed that there was no Narendra Modi "wave" in the state except Congress who is in the power.
Talking to, the Chief Minister who was here on Friday to inaugurate ‘Magnetic Mizoram Summit’ said, "There is no Modi wave in Mizoram except Congress.”
Asked about tie-ups with other parties before polls, Mr Thanhawla said, 'At the moment there are no such proposals. If anyone approaches us, We will see."
Replying to steps taken by the state government to assimilate Mizoram with mainstream, the Chief Minister said, "We are not an independent state and redirectly under the union government and the position is very clear state subject is there concurrent subject is there and union subject is there, so we have to function under that."
"No difference can be made with regard to any state in the country," he stated.
On drug addiction, the CM said,"We have declared a war against drugs and fighting in collaboration with the civil societies."
On plans to minimise gap between Delhi and Mizoram, "There is no gap at all. As our Prime Minister Mr Modi says there is collective federalism so I have no problem and working with them.They are all very kind."
On illegal immigration from Myanmar/Bangladesh, he said, "From Myanmar there is no illegal immigration, from Bangladesh they are being checked."
The Chief Minister also said on infrastructure development, "Airport is being improved, and downsouth there will be another airport. Then there is multi model transit project which will begin soon. And recently we have proposed a hydel project while some others are in the pipeline."
“We are one of the states where there is sufficiency in food grains and the credit goes to New Land Use Policy (NLUP) and New Economic Development Policy (NEDP)," he said.
He said Mizoram would soon construct a 42 megawatt power project om river Tuirini. Mizoram will soon become power surplus state in the country.
On unemployment, he said, "It is a problem everywhere in the world and even in this country and it is not confined to my state. It is a big problem everywhere. We have good number of institutions, we have central university, good colleges in all the cities." UNI
