JAMMU, APRIL 24: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly,
Kavinder Gupta today laid foundation stones of 2 Sulabh Toilet Complexes at
Airport Road Satwari and Narwal Chowk Jammu.

Vikram Randhawa was also present on the occasion.
These public conveniences would be constructed at a
cost a total cost of Rs 21 lakh (Rs 10.50 lakh each) by the Jammu Municipality
Corporation under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM). The facilities were need of
the hour in the area in view of the thick movement of commoners. The facilities
are available for both males and females.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said that the
complexes have been constructed as a part of the National Swachh Bharat Mission
launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that it is endeavor of
the Government to construct more than 100 such Sulabh Toilet Complexes in the
vicinities of urban areas across the state within next three months to ensure
public conveniences to the people. The objective of these facilities is to
ensure sanitized and clean surroundings and atmosphere all around, said the
Minister.
Earlier, the Speaker also called on the Sikh
pilgrims, who returned from Pakistan after performing the pilgrimage on the
occasion of Baisakhi at religious places there. He welcomed them and
congratulated for their safe journey and performing the pilgrimage at the
historic places of Sikh Gurus in Pakistan.
On the occasion, the management of the Gurudwara
Prabandhak Committee shared their experience during their pilgrimage to
Pakistan and highlighted some demands like enhancement of existing quota from
Jammu and Kashmir State to facilitate maximum number of devotees to have
opportunities to visit to these historic religious places for performing
pilgrimage.
The Speaker assured to take up the demands with the
appropriate authorities in the Centre Government and try to get the issues
resolved.
Later, the Speaker also attended a function at BDO
office, Gadhi Garh in which the Prime Minister of India has launched Rashtriya
Gram Swaraj Abhiyan on National Panchayat Raj Day in Mandla, Madhya Pradesh.

Mughal, Secretary, Panchayat halqa Gadhi Garh, Rajesh Gupta, Ex Sarpanch, Vijay
Sharma, a large number of students and prominent citizens were also present on
the occasion.
