ANANTNAG, APRIL 24: In connection with the National Panchayati Raj Diwas, a grand function was organized in Dak Bungalow Khanabal, Anantnag today, in order to discuss various schemes and programmes of the Rural Development Department and to provide awareness to the general public about the importance and functions of Panchayats in development of the rural areas of the district.
 On the occasion, DDC, Anantnag Mohammad Younis Malik was the chief guest. The DDC said that dozens of welfare schemes and programmes have been framed for the benefit of the rural folk but the need of the hour is to create mass awareness so that people are benefited in the real sense. The DDC stressed upon the officers of the Rural Development Department to sensitize the general public about the benefits of various schemes of the said department and bring the benefit to the deserving.
The Lead Bank Manager appraised the gathering regarding the various schemes of the banks and their benefits for the general public.
On the occasion, fresh job cards were distributed among the unemployed youth.
Among others, ACD, Anantnag, officers of NABARD, BDOs of Anantnag & Bijbehara, VLWs, GRSs, JEs, Technical Assistants, other field functionaries and the general public were present on the occasion.
Similarly, 303 Gram Panchayats were held across the district to discuss the various schemes of the department and to the aware general public about the various schemes of the said department.
