BUDGAM,
APRIL 27: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Budgam, Mir Altaf Ahmad, and
Director, Rural Development Kashmir, Gazanffer Ali, today convened a meeting to
review the implementation of various schemes of the Rural Development
Department in the district.
Assistant
Commissioner Development (ACD), Budgam, DPO, CPO, concerned SE, EE and AEEs,
BDOs, and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
The ACD
informed the meeting that during the FY 2016-17 an amount of Rs 21.46 crore
(out of an approved Labour Budget of Rs. 24.45 crore) was expended under
MGNREGA in the district. He also gave out that 3725 number of works were taken
up at a cost of Rs 50.33 crore, with 3103 number of works completed and 1536
number of works finalized, adding that some 8, 42,253 person-days of employment
were generated.
With respect
to the IAY scheme, the meeting was informed that an amount of Rs. 1.00 crore
was expended (out of the total Rs 1.07 crore made available), adding that 696
number of houses were taken up, with 477 number
of houses completed, which include 146 houses for the ST, and 218 number of
houses finalized.
On the
occasion, progress of works under APNA Panchyat Ghar (13th FC Part), IAY Flood
Damage, CDF, MLC Grants, MPLADS and convergence projects was also reviewed in
the meeting.
Reiterating
that schemes like MNREGA and IAY are meant to create durable assets in
far-flung areas and provide livelihood to the downtrodden, the DDC called on
the officers to work with dedication so that project targets are achieved in
time. He also directed the ACD to ensure that proper nomenclature of works is
made in order that there is transparency in the process and, in case of
delinquency, responsibility can be fixed.
Speaking on
the occasion, the Director emphasized on physical achievement of targets and
called for physical inspection of various randomly chosen works. He directed
the concerned to seek proper approval from other departments when taking up
overlapping works so that there is no chance for double drawal and fidelity of
the whole process is ensured.
