KULGAM, APRIL 29: The District Development Commissioner Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, today
chaired a meeting to review the performance of the Rural Development Department
made during the FY 2016-17 with regard to different programmes under
implementation in the district.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development Kulgam,
District Panchayat Officer Kulgam, Executive Engineer REW Kulgam, Block
Development Officers besides various Panchayat level field functionaries.
The DDC was informed that during the FY 2016-17, some 8,675 works were
taken up under MGNREGA, out of which 8,645 works have been completed at an
estimated cost of Rs. 83.29 crore so far, generating about 17.14 lac man-days
of employment in the district.
Under the IAY, it was informed, against an annual target of 1,012 units,
the Department completed 418 units. Whereas, under the SBM, some 2,871 units
have been completed out of the total 6,584 IHHL units, during the year.
On the occasion, the DDC issued instructions for formation of a district
level committee for verification of works executed under MGNREGA during
2016-17. He also directed the ACD Kulgam to submit a report regarding
elimination of fake Job Cards besides calling for immediate Aadhaar seeding of
Job Card holders.
During the meeting, the DDC also stressed on early preparation of action plans for the current financial year for effective utilization of
funds and better execution of works.
