NEW DELHI: Amid a growing clamour for governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has summoned governor NN Vohra to New Delhi today. As per the sources, Vohra will be meeting national security adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval and Union home minister Rajnath Singh before calling on Modi. The meeting comes a day after the Supreme Court asked the Centre to facilitate talks between separatists and Kashmiri lawyers to defuse tension in the Valley, where nearly 100 people have dead since last July after the death of militant leader Burhan Wani. The Centre has refused to talk to the separatists. The PDP-BJP coalition government in the state is under after the violence that has taken the shape of street protests by school and college students, including girls. The Mehbooba Mufti government has banned high-speed internet for a month in the Valley, hoping to clamp down on the spread of videos and images that officials believe fan tension. Opposition Congress and National Conference have demanded governor's rule in the state for the restoration of peace.(Agencies)
