JAMMU MAY 30- All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) organized a workshop
to raise awareness about Prime Minister's Special Scholarship
Scheme (PMSS) today at Government Women College Gandhi Nagar.
Aimed at building capacities of youth of Jammu & Kashmir, the scheme
would educate, enable and empower them to compete in the normal course besides
enhancing and formulating employment opportunities in the state thereby
boosting employment potential of students.
Students and parents from
various districts of Jammu division took part in the workshop.
The nodal
officer of PMSS of Jammu division, Dr. Ajit Angral highlighted the initiatives
taken by the government to provide platform to the students in different parts
of the state. Participating students and parents get their doubts clarified
from the visiting resource person from AICTE, New Delhi.
Advisor,
Prof. Daleep Malkhede from AICTE, New Delhi gave detail presentation and all
important inputs about the scheme.
It was
informed in the workshop that Students having domicile of Jammu &
Kashmir, Passing 10+2 examination from J&K Board or CBSE located in
J&K, willing to study outside the State, having family income of Rs. 6.00
Lakh or below per annum are eligible to avail benefit under the scheme.
Besides, every student will be required to give preferences of colleges
and allotment of seats will be made through counselling only and no change will
be allowed after counselling is over under any circumstances. The
registration is open for students till 8th June.
Later, an interactive session was also held in which number of
questions were raised by the participants.
Among others who were present on the occasion included Joint Director
School Education, Charandeep Singh and principals from various Colleges, Higher
Secondary Schools and Polytechnic Colleges.
