Directs for ensuring adequate power, other facilities during Ramadan
SRINAGAR, MAY 25: Minister of State for Power, PHE
and Hajj and Auqaf, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi conducted a visit of various
areas of Baramulla town late last night to take a firsthand appraisal of the
various services delivered by the concerned Departments and to check the on
ground presence of these Departments in these areas.
The Minister specially checked the availability and status of power
supply, functioning of street lights, drinking water facility and other civic
amenities being provided to people in the town.
During his visit, the Minister visited Khawaja Bagh, Khanpora, Dewan
Bagh, Main Market and other several wards of Baramulla town and checked the
availability of power supply to the people living in these areas. He
directed the concerned to install street lights, wherever necessary, at the
earliest and repair all defunct lights for the convenience of the commuters.
Member Legislative Assembly Baramulla Javed Hassan Beigh,
District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash, Chief
Engineer PDD Ms Shahnaz Goni, Executive Engineer Electrical Division Baramulla
Joginder Singh, Executive Officer Municipal
Committee Baramulla, and other concerned officers accompanied the Minister
during the tour.
The Minister directed for regular and routine cleaning of drains,
roads and lanes in the city and proper dumping of the waste.
The Minister directed the concerned officers to improve the
level of power supply, clean water, civic amenities and other facilities
provided by the Government in these areas keeping in view ensuing
Ramadan. “It is time to gear up efforts for warmly welcoming the holy
month of Ramadan, he said. This calls for coordinated efforts to ensure proper
lighting facilities during Iftaar and Sehri when streets all through the
Valley experience busy movement of people, instructed the Minister.
He directed the concerned authorities of PDD and PHE to conduct
regular visits to municipal and other areas to check that the services are
delivered to people both quantitatively and qualitatively.
The Minister also directed the officials of the Urban Local Bodies
to mobilize human resource to make all street lights installed
in the town functional, repair defunct and damaged lights so that no one
confronts inconvenience during night hours. “All street lights should be
functional as soon as possible, ensure installation and
repair of lights near mosques for smooth functioning, and identify
spots where new lights need to be installed for the smooth movement of
commuters”, instructed the Minister.
