Anti-Polythene drive held at Ghordi

UDHAMPUR, MAY 25: As a part of massive polythene drive launched in the district under Swachh Bharat Mission, an anti polythene drive was today organized at block Ghordi by Rural Development Department.

An awareness programme was held on the occasion which was attended by BDO Ghordi, CDPO, Naib –Tehsildar, Principal GHSS, AEE besides large number of Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, students and prominent citizens.

 District Panchayat Officer, Sandeep Seointra urged the participants to not use polythene. He also enumerated harmful effects of polythene both on health and environment and asked the common masses to use biodegradable materials such as paper and jute as alternatives to polythene.

Later, a rally was also taken out in which the participants with placards in their hands raised awareness against polythene and its ill-effects among masses.

Meanwhile, a joint surprise inspection of the shops was also conducted by the BDO and Naib Tehsildar in which a large quantity of unaccounted polythene was seized.
