DC chairs traffic management meet

POONCH, MAY 17: A meeting regarding traffic management in the district   was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, who is also chairman of Road Transport Authority (RTA).

Addressing the officers, the Deputy Commissioner held threadbare discussion on several important issues like identification of land for parking of Tata Magics, overloading and wrong parking, removal of encroachments, entry of Goods vehicles and issue of vehicles plying in contravention to actual route permits. Besides, various decisions were taken for decongestion and regulation of traffic movements on heavily occupied   routes and places within peripheral areas of Poonch municipal limit.

Regarding decongestion of OG Tata magic and taxies from certain locations, the DC asked the R&B department to start work immediately on already identified land and complete it in shortest possible time.

Deputy Commissioner directed ARTO, Traffic Police and Police department to work in close coordination and act tough against traffic rules violators who prove to be of immense threat to common people. He directed ADC and EO municipality to devise an effective mechanism for removal of encroachments.

Regarding illegal practice of vehicles plying in contravention to exact route permits, The DC asked the concerned to look into the matter and ensure strict adherence to the existing norms to stop such violations. He asked for chalking out modalities for beautification of Poonch city in general and bus stand Poonch in particular. He directed the concerned officers to take up work on new pedestal being constructed in memory of Shaheed Manjeet Singh at the bus stand.

 The Deputy Commissioner impressed upon police and traffic department to check violations like use of mobile phone while driving, drunken driving, over speeding, driving by minors and other related issues.
