ANANATNAG,
MAY 02: District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed
Shah, who is also the District Yatra Officer, today chaired a meeting to review
the preparations made for the smooth conduct of the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra
Ji Yatra which is commencing from June 29,
2017.
The DDC
also reviewed the implementation of the recommendations of sixth report of the
High Level Committee for Amarnath Yatra-2017.

Forests, SE PHE, Exen PDD, Chief Animal
Husbandry Officer, Assistant Labour Commissioner, ARTO, EOs of Municipalities, besides
officers of Tourism, and other concerned Departments attended the meeting.
The
meeting held threadbare discussions related to the commencement of Yatra
including registration of ponies, labourers, accommodation, medicare
facilities, transport facilities, ration, boarding and lodging facilities,
supply of drinking water, solid waste management, sanitation and cleanliness,
besides establishment of control rooms at all halting stations. BSNL
authorities were directed to ensure best communication facilities for the
pilgrims during the Yatra period.
SE
R&B was directed to start the restoration and patchwork of
Khanabal-Pahalgam road on war-footing. Besides, the concerned Departments were
directed to display hoardings and milestones at various locations enroute the
Pahalgam base camp.
The DDC
directed all the concerned Departments to submit their proposals of new works
to be executed for Yatra 2017 well before time and to convey the shortfalls, if
any, so that appropriate measures are taken before the commencement of Yatra.
He also
stressed the concerned officers/agencies to make all arrangements in advance
besides dumping of essential commodities, firewood and other Yatra related
machines at identified spots.
He
directed Pahalgam Development Authority officials to start works on various
routes as soon as possible so that Yatra 2017 gets underway smoothly. Besides,
he directed PDD officials to ensure inflatable lights at all the yatra camps.
Meanwhile, CMO was asked to give the details of the causes of the deaths of
pilgrims during last year Yatra and to suggest measures to minimize them.
