KUPWARA, MAY 25: District Development commissioner Kupwara, G. M. Dar, today convened a meeting with officers of the district administration, Trade Union leaders and respectables to discuss the arrangements for ensuing holy month of Ramadan.
           The District Development commissioner Kupwara directed the concerned to ensure adequate supply of essential commodities to the people so that they do not face any inconvenience in this regard.
          He directed the officers to ensure adequate supply of power particularly during sehri and iftaar timings, water, cleanliness in and around mosques and shrines, functioning of street lights, effective regulation of traffic.
          The DDC also directed for constituting market checking squads to keep a check on black marketing, profiteering and hoarding. He said market checking should be conducted on regular basis.
           Responding the issues and demands projected by the different trade union leaders and senior citizens, the DDC said that a comprehensive plan of Rs. 381 crore has been submitted to the Government for beatification and over all development of the district towns.

          A similar meeting was also held at Handwara to review the arrangements put in place for the month of Ramadan.
