BARAMULLA, MAY 26: As part of the nationwide ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ mission of empowering the girl child in every sphere of life, a function was held at Government Girls Higher Secondary school Baramulla with District Development Commissioner Dr. Nasir Ahmad Naqash as the chief guest.
The function was organized by the Education Department in collaboration
with the district administration Baramulla in which a huge number of students
participated.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC emphasized the need to create
awareness among masses with regard to educating a girl child. He exhorted upon
the significance of the campaign and said that women comprise half of the
population and they should be deprived of their basic rights including the
right to education.
While citing
the example of many woman personalities, the DDC said that girls are second to
none and there is a need to provide them a platform for exploring and honing
their skills. He stressed upon imparting moral education among students and
termed it the only tool to transform society.
Other
speakers also spoke on the topic and highlighted the need for its raising more
awareness about the importance of educating and saving a girl child.
Later, a cultural programme was presented by the students depicting the
importance of the campaign wherein awards were given to the best performers.
Among others, Chief Education Officer, Deputy Chief Education Officer,
Principal GHHS Baramulla and other concerned were present on the occasion.
