SRINAGAR,
MAY 26: Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay, today
said the Government will establish industrial estates in Ladakh region by
roping in Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (SICOP).
The
Minister said this while chairing a meeting with Chief Executive Councilor
(CEC) of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh Dr Sonam Dawa
and CEC Kargil Kachoo Ahmed Ali Khan here today. The meeting discussed a wide
range of issues and measures initiated by the Government for overall
development of the desert district. The
CEC Kargil and CEC Leh said with the setting up of industrial units, the region
will not only flourish and see the dawn of development and progress but it will
play a pivotal role in addressing unemployment as well.
On
the occasion, Dorjay asked the Chief Executives to identify suitable sites for
the establishment of the industrial zones and recommend the locations for the
allotment of plots to the SICOP.
He
said the initiative will lead to rise of incoming generating units in the hilly
region and provide a way for youth to be employment generators rather than
seekers. He said the step will lead to progress of the region and contribute
towards State’s
economy and form a turning point in every aspect of the livelihood of the
people of the region at large.
