| ‘Govt committed to provide better road connectivity, basic amenities’ |
SRINAGAR,
MAY 26: Minister of State for Forest, Environment, Animal & Sheep
Husbandry, Cooperative and Fisheries, Mir Zahoor Ahmad, today inaugurated
macadamization work on 1.5 kilometer of road length in Chandihara which links
it to National Highway road in Pampore Constituency.
An amount of Rs 70 lakh
has already been sanctioned to carry out the road work.
Senior
Officers of Public Works Department, district administration and other
concerned accompanied the Minister.
The
Minister also visited various areas of the Constituency to review the pace of
ongoing development works. He directed the officers to work with added zeal and
ensure time-bound completion of these works so that their benefits percolate to
the grass root level.
During
his visit, various public deputations met the Minister and apprised him of
various issues confronting them. He gave a patient hearing to them and assured
them of redressal of their genuine concerns in a phased manner.
Mir
Zahoor said that the Government is committed to provide improved basic
amenities to the people of all the three regions of the State. He said several
initiatives are underway to upgrade basic services and improve the living
standard of the people especially of weaker sections of the society. He said
road connectivity is the top priority of the Government and in this regard
necessary directions were already passed to all the concerned Departments to
prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for uncovered areas so that all
habitations would be provided better road connectivity.
Referring
the developmental works under execution in the Pampore Constituency, Mir Zahoor
said that 40 km's of road length in the Constituency will be macadamized during
the current fiscal.
He further said that
several measures are afoot to augment the power distribution and remission
network the constituency.
