IT Deptt holds seminar

KISHTWAR, MAY 18: A two days seminar cum conference organized by the team of Income Tax Department, TDS section, Jammu Division led by Income Tax Officer. I.S. Chawla, for the twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar concluded here today.

The two separate meetings were chaired by the Deputy Commissioner Doda, Bhupinder Kumar and Chief Planning Officer, Kishtwar, Yasir Balwan at Doda and Kishtwar respectively. All the DDOs of both the districts along with their accountants and clerks attended the meeting.          

ITO TDS, Inder Sen Chawla gave a brief overview of the working of income tax department and made the DDOs aware about know how’s of income Tax Act and Rules. He urged upon all the DDOs to deduct and deposit the income tax on quarterly basis and file their returns well in time.

He also informed that in case of any discrepancy the liability lies upon the DDO responsible for deduction of income tax. Chawla asked the participants to revise their DDO as well as individual returns within the prescribed time to rectify any discrepancy otherwise it shall attract interest and penalty according to the rules.
