LMD penalizes Hardware, Sanitary firms, others traders

            SRINAGAR, MAY 24: Field Executives of Legal Metrology Department today conducted an intensive market inspection in the city and booked a number of erring traders including hardware/sanitary firms for violating Legal Metrology Laws.

          Various markets including Maloora, Lal Chowk, Soura, Khanyar among others were inspected during the visit.

         Many products in pre-packaged form like Chinese nails, Screws, Hinges, CP Pipes, Locks, Handles etc were seized for not carrying the mandatory declarations like MRP, PKD, complete address with email and phone no. of the manufacturer/packer, size and quantity of the product.

         A penal sum of Rs 55000/- was slapped on the defaulting firms as in case of absence of price and quantity on the label, the consumer is not able to take a rational decision while making a purchase.
