SAMBA, MAY 30: Department of Agriculture in
collaboration with Oriental Insurance Company organized
a seminar cum conference on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana here today.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Vivek Sharma presided over
the function. Among others Chief Agriculture Officer, Mohd. Iqbal Choudhary,
SDAO, Suresh Andotra, Senior Divisional Manager Oriental Insurance, D S Motten,
experts from SKUAST and officers from Horticulture and Agriculture departments
were present on the occasion.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Vivek Sharma appreciated the
department for organizing awareness programme on such a vital scheme which has
the potential of minimizing crop failure effects by monetarily assisting the
farmers in adverse situations.
Chief Agriculture Officer gave a detailed presentation on the
implementation of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana which will benefit 40,000 families
associated with agriculture sector in the district. He briefed the
conference on scale of finance, crops notified under the scheme, period of
insurance, service provider, premium to be paid, cut off rate for premium risk
covered and general exclusions under the scheme.
An interactive session was also held during which farmers sought
information on various aspects of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yoajana
for a comprehensive understanding of the benefits under the scheme.
