Seminar on Waste Management, cleanliness held in Kulgam

KULGAM, MAY 13: The department of Urban Local Bodies Kashmir in collaboration with District Administration today organized a daylong Seminar on Solid Waste Management, it's segregation & composing at the meeting hall D.C Office complex Kulgam.

          Member Parliament Rajya Sabha Nazir Ahmed Laway was the Chief Guest on this occasion. DDC Kulgam Showkat Aijaz Bhat, Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir Mr Reyaz Ahmed Wani, representatives of trade federation, Auqaf committee members, District Officers of different departments, fruit growers and students of different schools were also present on this occasion.

          Speaking on the occasion Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir urged people to cooperate with the department in making Kulgam District pollution and polythene free. He said that the ULB department will be equipped with latest gadgets in near future so that Segregation, Composing of biodegradable & non-biodegradable waste will be accomplished at the site itself. The Director stressed on the people to abide by the rules of Solid Waste Management 2016 to achieve the goals for making Swach Bharat Mission. 

          Speaking on the occasion the DDC said it is the responsibility of every single individual to contribute towards creating neat and clean environment. He said that people need to develop civic sense in order to safeguard the interests of future generations. 

             Students from different schools spoke on the theme and garnered applause from the audience.
