SKIMS Bemina organizes first-ever live operative workshop on ‘Advanced Laparoscopy’

Dir SKIMS hails doctors for their contribution in medicine field  

  

 SRINAGAR, MAY 23: Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Medical College, Bemina today organized a live operative workshop on ‘Advanced Laparoscopy’, during which several advanced laparoscopic surgeries, including Laparoscopic Anterior Resection of CA Rectum, Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy, Laparoscopic Myomectomy and Laparoscopic Repair of Hernia were performed for the first time in the hospital.

          The event marked the inauguration of the Advanced Laparoscopic procedures in the departments of gynecology and surgery at the hospital, which has added its name to the only two other hospitals, SKIMS and SMHS, performing advanced laparoscopy in the Valley.

          The laparoscopies were performed by the renowned laparoscope and oncologist, Dr Arvind Kumar, who was assisted by a team of hospital faculty headed by Dr. Syed Naseer.

          Director SKIMS, Prof. A G Ahangar, Member Governing Body SKIMS, Prof. M S Khuroo, Principal SKIMS Medical College, Bemina, Dr. Riyaz Untoo, among other senior surgeons were present on the occasion.

          Speaking on the occasion, Prof Khuroo said the field has huge potential in the field of medical surgery and called on surgeons to put in their dedicated efforts and hard work for its success in the Valley. He further hailed Director SKIMS for lending full support to SKIMS Medical College, and complimented the efforts of Principal SKIMS Medical College Bemina Prof Reyaz Untoo for addressing the issue of faculty deficiency by getting the long pending interviews of entry level position of faculty conducted in very nice way despite extremely difficult conditions and hoped the College growth with a full time Principal from within the faculty.

            Recalling the services of the of SKIMS medical College, Director SKIMS on the occasion announced full support to the College for its growth and development. He also highlighted the contribution of local doctors including   Prof Khuroos in the field of Medicine.

            Meanwhile Principal SKIMS Medical College Bemina, Prof Reyaz Untoo hailed the Chairperson SKIMS Governing Body and Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti  for taking keen interest and  providing necessary support required to ensure that SKIMS Medical College  grows as an Independent Unit in a phased manner.
