DDC Kupwara reviews Developmental Works

30 New Roads sanctioned under CRF, PMGSY; 136 roads to be Macadamized

KUPWARA, JUNE 07: The District Development Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir today convened a to review the status of various ongoing works in the district.

          The meeting was attended by SE R&B Baramulla/Kupwara, SE, PDD Baramula/Kupwara Circle, ACD Kuwara, XEN R&B Kupwara, XEN R&B Handwara, XEN PHE Kupwara, XEN PHE Handwara, XEN Irrigation Kupwara, XEN Irrigation Handwara, XEN REW Kupwara.

          During the meeting, a detailed review of the developmental activities being undertaken in the district under District Plan, State Plan, Centrally Sponsored Programmes, etc. was taken. The DDC Kupwara stressed for speedy execution of the developmental works, being executed in the district under various sectors, keeping in view the limited working season available in the district.

          He also impressed upon the officers to maintain quality and workmanship in accordance with the laid down standards. The DDC called upon the supervisory officers to effectively monitor the developmental works during execution to maintain quality standards.

           The meeting was informed that 1538 Kms of Road length is being maintained in the district under various schemes and 136 Kms road length is to be taken up for Macadamization during the current financial year.

          It was also given out that 09 road projects with an approved cost of about Rs 225.00 Crores under the CRF are under execution in the district.

          Officials informed the meeting that 11 schemes are in progress under Phase IX of the PMGSY in the District and 21schemes under Phase X of the PMGSY with an approved cost is Rs. 117.68 Crores covering a length of 104 Kms.

          The meeting was further informed that 05 road projects with an approved cost of Rs. 11.23 Crores, under NABARD are in progress in various parts of the district.

          The ACD Kupwara informed the meeting that under MGNREGA an amount of Rs 60.00 Crores is likely to be earmarked for Labour Budget to be spent in Kupwara District. Besides, 10 Model Villages under BADP have been approved by the Central Government for which release of funds is expected shortly.

          The DDC Kupwara instructed to commence the spade work for early execution of these important projects which will have transformational impact on the lives of people.

          Besides, a number of buildings like Girls Hostels Kupwara, Gujjar & Bakerwal Hostel Kupwara, , Administrative Complex Handwara, Children Park, Handwara, Library Building Handwara, Bus Stand Handwara, SDH Langate, Higher Secondary Schools, High Schools, etc. are also under construction.

          It was also informed that 05 major bridges are under construction in the district and are targeted for completion during the current year.

          The meeting was informed that 08 schemes are likely to be completed during the financial year, under the PHE Sector. The DDC instructed ACD Kupwara and XEN Irrigation to work in complete coordination for restoration/de-silting of the irrigation canals for ensuring availability of adequate water for irrigation purposes.

          While concluding the DDC exhorted the officers to work with renewed vigour and zeal to complete the developmental projects as per the timelines decided in the meeting. He also called upon the executing agencies to work in tandem and team-like manner for removing bottlenecks and resolving issues for lending fillip to developmental process.
