KUPWARA, JUNE 21: The
District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir, today conducted an
extensive tour of Handwara and Langate areas of the district to review the
status of various ongoing developmental projects there.
The DDC visited Vilgam, Dedikote, Tulwari, Younisoo, Hanjishat, Yaroo
and Langate and took stock of developmental works being carried out there.
While
inspecting Gotingo-Pazipora road, the DDC directed the Executive
Engineer PMGSY to take immediate steps for augmenting manpower and machinery on
the road for ensuring its early completion. During the inspection of Uniso-Kohroo road, he
directed the concerned engineers to rectify deficiencies observed in the
retaining wall along the irrigation Khul near the terminal point of the road.
The DDC
also inspected Tulwari-Sirajpura road and the AEE concerned was instructed to
complete the bridge within two months by expediting the pace of work on the road project.
He also visited Middle School Tulwari, where the local inhabitants,
mostly belonging to ST community, sought re-opening of the Middle School that
has been closed for quite some time. The CEO Kupwara was directed to examine
the feasibility of re-opening the school keeping in view the standing norms. While
considering the demand put forth by the local inhabitants of village
Yaroo for the construction of additional rooms in Middle School Yaroo, the CEO
was asked to visit the said Middle School in the coming days to verify the
matter and furnish his recommendations accordingly.
While inspecting ongoing work on Kohru Dug Well, the DDC instructed the
Executive Engineer PHE Division Handwara to expedite the work for ensuring
completion of the water supply scheme Palpora by October 2017.
The DDC was informed that work on Rs. 1.54 Crore Hanjishat Foot Bridge
is apace and so far Rs 54 lakh have been released and expended on the project.
He also called for speeding up work on Yaroo Bridge and
under-construction SDH Langate building for their time bound completion.
During the
visit, various public deputations met the DDC and apprised him of various
issues confronting them. He gave a patient hearing.
