UDHAMPUR,
JUNE 16: District Hospital, Udhampur has been
adjudged as the best in Jammu and Kashmir as per the Kayakalp scorecard for
patient care and host of other indicators.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare , Government of India has
launched the national initiative called Kayakalp to give awards to those public
health facilities that demonstrate high levels of cleanliness, hygiene and
infection control .
The main objective of this national initiative taken by the MHFW is to
promote cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices in public health
care facilities. The initiatives also provisions for incentives and recognition
of such public healthcare facilities that show exemplary performance in
adhering to standard protocols of cleanliness and infection control.
The award is conferred on the basis of performance on various parameters
like Hospital Upkeep, Sanitation and hygiene, Waste Management, Infection
control, Support Services and Hygiene Promotion. The awards for individual
public health facility are given to those that score the highest based on a set
of defined criteria under three sub categories – First is
the Best District Hospitals sub category in which the two top ranked district
hospitals in a state receive an award. The first and second best district
hospital level facilities get cash award of Rs Fifty and Rs. Twenty Lakhs
respectively. For small states, only the first ranking facility in this
category is awarded. Second under Best CHC/SDH Award category and third and the
last sub category is the Best PHC Award.
Not only scoring high on cleanliness and Hygiene, the District Hospital Udhampur has also performed wonderfully in many
other activities organization of Free Medical cum Road Safety Camps during Road Safety Week, Special Sanitation Drive in
all the Health institutions of the district, outreach camps to provide Health
Care Services including Preventive and other Health care services to Homeless,
Migrants and street children in slum areas besides holding various awareness
programmes on ‘World No Tobacco day’ , ‘World Blood Donor Day etc.
The District Hospital is successfully running ‘Pradhan
Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan’ in which at least one Antenatal check
up is provided to pregnant women during 2nd or 3rd trimester of
pregnancy on 9th of every month.
