SRINAGAR, JUNE 17: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, today convened a meeting to review the implementation of climate resilient aggregation project in Surasyar block in Kashmir valley and Balwal block in Jammu region.
The Minister directed the concerned officers for early implementation of
the project which would provide water and other irrigational facilities to farm
lands in hilly parched and rain-fed areas.
The proposed project envisages to minimize the adverse effects of
climate change on rain-fed areas of Surasyar and Balwal blocks on pilot basis
after which other areas of the State will be gradually be brought the ambit of
the project.
Other important features of the project as soil testing, greenhouses
creation, use of hybrid seeds, creation of water resources for increase in
agriculture yield.
On the occasion, the Minister directed the officials to speed up the
process regarding the implementation of the project so that it can be completed
within the stipulated timeframe and benefit intending farmers.
The Minister was briefed that Rs 2.77 crore have been released to
Director Kashmir and Director Agriculture Jammu for Implementation of the
project.
Pertinently, the total cost of the projects is Rs 25 crore and the
project is slated to be completed by the end of year 2020.
Principal Secretary Agriculture Production Sundeep Kumar Nayak, Director
Agriculture Kashmir Altaf Aijaz Andrabi, Project Coordinator, Additional
Secretary Forests, Nodal Officer Jammu, O.S.D Ghulam, Nabi Bhat and other
senior officers of the Department attended the meeting.
