SRINAGAR, JUNE 14: Sh. Imran Raza Ansari, Minister
for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services &
Sports, met Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Sh. Ansari briefed the Governor about the functioning of various
departments under his charge and the preparations which are underway for
organizinga mega Sports Carnival in the State; the plan to transform the Bakshi
Stadium in Srinagar into a state-of-art international football Stadium; and
establishing village clubs for enabling youth to engage in sports and related
activities.
Governor advised Sh. Ansari to launch a well planned programme for
sports and games competitions taking place in each of the 22 districts through
the year. He also suggested to the Minister that the Sports Department should
also organise State and Inter-State level Championships in identified sports
and games to provide the youth to advance their skills.
