Member Parliament Raja Sabha Nazir Ahmad Laway and District
Development Commissioner Kulgam, Talat Parvez Rohella, today chaired District
Level Review cum Consultative Committee (DLRC) meeting held to review
performance of various banks under District Credit Action Plan and to discuss
achievements made upto March 2017.
The Member Parliament asked the banks to create
new avenues of employment by extending several initiatives like low interest
loans to the youth and aspiring entrepreneurs so that employment generation
gets a boost and more and more unemployed ones become self reliant. He also directed them to create awareness among
people about different schemes. The meeting was attended by Assistant Director
Planning, District heads of various Departments, District Lead Bank Manager,
Director RSETI, Representatives of RBI and NABARD and other banks operating in
the district.
The meeting was briefed about the performance of
the banks and it was said that under DCP 87.99percent progress has
been achieved, while as a deposition target of 630.55 crore was achieved in the
last financial year. It was further said that against the national target of
40%, the banks operating in the district have disbursed 82.85% of the total
credit in priority sectors. A percentage of 74.54% in terms of CD ratio has
been achieved by ending March 2017.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC
laid stress on capacity building and called for holding more awareness camps.
He impressed upon the bank officials to speed up the lending process for unemployed youth who wish to
set up their income generating units. He exhorted them to explore the
possibility of opening more bank branches in tourist and rural areas of the
district.
The meeting was told that 16000 accounts under
PMJDY have been opened during 2016-17. For the successful implementation of
different security schemes, Labor, Social Welfare and Employment Departments
have been directed to sponsor cases so that organized, identified and
underprivileged beneficiaries are covered in
schemes like MUDRA, PMJJBY, PMSBY and other schemes for which banks have been
directed to ensure full cooperation.
Director RSETI was directed to introduce new
training courses like packaging, grading, waxing, cardboard making and other
skills so as to impact skills in the youth.
The DDC sought the necessary support of the banks
in employment creation in different sectors like Handicrafts, Animal and Sheep
Husbandry, Agriculture, Fisheries and other allied sectors by liasoning with
the concerned departments.
