Awareness about blood donation will be part of curriculum: Dr Itoo
SRINAGAR, JUNE 14: State Red Cross today celebrated
World Blood Donor day today at Srinagar in collaboration with School Education
Department.
The function was attended by Mohd Shafi Rather General Secretary, Indian
Red Cross Society, Dr.G.N. Itoo Director School Education, and Mr. Mohammad
Salman Qazi in Kothi Bagh Girls Higher Secondary Srinagar here.
The function was also attended by large number of people including heads
of the Educational institutions, teachers, students and Red Cross Volunteers.
Sixteen leading blood donors of the valley were facilitated by State Red
Cross. Master Trainer Indian Red Cross National level Dr. I.P.S bali.
He also gave
a detailed presentation of the dynamics of the blood donation and transfusion.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Rather appealed the people to come forward
for donation of blood for saving precious lives. He emphasized the need to
spread awareness about blood donation in educational institutions so that young
generation would enthusiastically donate blood to the needy ones.
Mr. G.N. Itoo who also spoke on the occasion assured the gathering that
awareness and motivation components about blood donation will be adequately
accounted in school curriculum and other academic activities. Among others who
spoke on the occasion were Ms. Nighat Aman, Deputy Controller Civil Defence,
Prof. Nusrat Andrabi Secretary Regional Red Cross. Mr. Fayaz Ahmad Fayaz, a
renowed broadcaster hoisted the function.
