JAMMU, MAY10: District Development Commissioner, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, also the Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) convened a meeting to review the disaster management preparedness in the district, here today.
 Threadbare discussion on preparedness including availability of infrastructure, rescue equipments and existing practice in place in case of a disaster, action taken report regarding various directions issued from time to time and availability of total number of volunteers with Civil Defense, SDRF & Red Cross was held during the meeting.
While discussing the modalities required to be followed in case of disaster, the DDC directed the concerned departments to implement the decisions taken in the meeting in letter and spirit for a foolproof plan to tackle any eventuality in case a disaster hits.
Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kanta Devi, District Statistics & Evaluation Officer, Kamal Kumar Sharma, Secretary IRCS, Dinesh Gupta, Disaster Expert Alok Nanda, Executive Engineers, Irrigation & Flood Control Divisions Jammu, Akhnoor, Deputy Controller Civil Defence Jammu, Akhnoor, DSP SDRF, 2nd Battalion, were also present in the meeting.

BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 29: To educate people about basic first aid practices Jammu and Kashmir’s branch of Indian Red Cross Society today organized a day lone work shop here.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Farooq Ahmad Baba was the chief guest on the occasion.
Besides, Anganwadi workers a large number of Heath Department works participated in the work shop.
On the occasion, the participants were educated about the various methodologies and techniques about first aid besides highlighting its importance. The trainers imparted necessary training among the participants about its proper implementation and emphasizing upon adopting proper skills so that precious lives are saved.
Lauding the efforts of organizers for organizing such work shop, the ADC
Stressed upon the workers to with more zeal and dedication and described the practice as the best service of humanity.

Among others, Tehsildar Baramulla, representatives of health department and other officers of the administration were present on the occasion.

Awareness about blood donation will be part of curriculum: Dr Itoo
                SRINAGAR, JUNE 14: State Red Cross today celebrated World Blood Donor day today at Srinagar in collaboration with School Education Department.
The function was attended by Mohd Shafi Rather General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Dr.G.N. Itoo Director School Education, and Mr. Mohammad Salman Qazi in Kothi Bagh Girls Higher Secondary Srinagar here.
The function was also attended by large number of people including heads of the Educational institutions, teachers, students and Red Cross Volunteers.
Sixteen leading blood donors of the valley were facilitated by State Red Cross. Master Trainer Indian Red Cross National level Dr. I.P.S bali.
He also gave a detailed presentation of the dynamics of the blood donation and transfusion.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Rather appealed the people to come forward for donation of blood for saving precious lives. He emphasized the need to spread awareness about blood donation in educational institutions so that young generation would enthusiastically donate blood to the needy ones. 

          Mr. G.N. Itoo who also spoke on the occasion assured the gathering that awareness and motivation components about blood donation will be adequately accounted in school curriculum and other academic activities. Among others who spoke on the occasion were Ms. Nighat Aman, Deputy Controller Civil Defence, Prof. Nusrat Andrabi Secretary Regional Red Cross. Mr. Fayaz Ahmad Fayaz, a renowed broadcaster hoisted the function.
