NEW DELHI, JUNE 22: District Election Officer
(Deputy Commissioner) Rajouri Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary delivered a lecture on
Voter Education, Ethical Voting and Electoral Best Practices at the conference
of Election Commissioners and officers from FEMBoSA (Federation of Electoral
Management Bodies of South Asia).
Chief Election Commissioner Dr Nasim Zaidi inaugurated the FEMBoSA
Conference on Electoral Practices and Voter Education which was attended by
participants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri
Lanka apart from Commissioners from the United Kingdom and Kenya as special
invitees.
Dr Shahid represented the Election Commission of India and made a
detailed presentation of electoral best practices in voter education and
electoral participation. He also presented a case study of J&K State
highlighting electoral inclusion and record participation as result of an
extensive project of voter education and participation. He also presented a
paper on the electoral inclusion based on specific interventions and creation
of institutional framework for voter education, enrolment and participation.
DC Rajouri Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary is one among resource persons of
Election Commission of India for multilateral electoral cooperation with
various countries and has represented the Commission in other countries
earlier.
The FEMBoSA conference deliberated on various innovative and best
practices to be adopted at international level as an outcome of these proceedings.
