JAMMU, JUNE 02: The special checking squads of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department conducted extensive market inspections upto Tehsil level in all the districts and booked violators under the essential commodities Act 1955.

The Assistant Directors along-with Area Inspectors/TSOs  inspected 2302 business establishments across Jammu division and imposed fine of Rs. 173250 for violating various provisions of essential commodities act like non-displaying of rate list, over charging, use of domestic cylinder for commercial purposes among others.

A special thrust was given to check mutton/chicken shops to check the prices and quality and fine was imposed on various establishments for committing various violations. Traders have been warned not to indulge in violation of the provisions of Essential Commodities Act and adhere to the norms and rates notified from time to time.
