RAJOURI, JULY 13: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Dr Shahid Iqbal
Choudhary, has invited scholars and researchers working on Pahari and Gojri
languages for a workshop to deliberate on the demand projected by various
sections of society for inclusion of these languages in curriculum.
District administration has also sought suggestions and recommendations
on the subject for submitting a proposal to Government for consideration.
"For a language to be included in curriculum there has to be a
basic literary work on language including dialect, script, resource material
and other lingual aspects" said Dr Shahid, adding that "without
having a concrete proposal on table no authority can accord consideration to
the demand therefore district administration has proposed to invite all
stakeholders so that a comprehensive proposal is formulated.
He said that a research centre will be started for Pahari and Gojri
languages where scholars, literatures, professionals, students, researchers and
stakeholders can contribute to documentation and formulation of a concrete
proposal in this regard , which will enable subsequent value addition. A
workshop is scheduled to be held on 29 July 2017 at 11am. Speakers and
participants have been encouraged to send their names to District Informatics
Officer and Chief Planning Officer.
