Stresses on reducing T&D losses, pilferage
JAMMU, JULY 14 – Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today asked the PDD authorities
to work in close coordination and synergy with district administration to
ensure fast tracking of reforms for effective implementation of Centrally
Sponsored Schemes (CSS) and flagship programmes in letter and spirit so as to
provide better public service delivery.
The Deputy CM said this while chairing a high level meeting with Deputy
Commissioners of Jammu division and Engineers of Power Development Department
(PDD).
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Commissioner
Secretary PDD, Dheeraj Gupta, IGP Jammu S D Singh Jamwal, Development
Commissioner Power, Asgar Ali Majaz, Deputy Commissioners of Jammu division,
SSPs, Chief Engineer PDD, Ashwani Gupta, Chief Engineer, Project Wing Jammu,
Som Raj, SEs, Executive Engineers besides other senior officers of concerned
department were present in the meeting.
Dr Nirmal Singh directed all the Deputy Commissioners to examine the
detailed project reports for electrification of all households under different
schemes and ensure that no habitation remains un-electrified. He also stressed
on ensuring that the projects being implemented in the power sector are
completed within the stipulated time frame and asked the concerned officers to
regularly monitor the works on grounds so that set targets are optimally
achieved.
He directed PDD to formulate a feeder wise schedule for keeping an
effective check over theft of electricity in every feeder area in which officers
and other local citizens should be involved. He further said that electricity
theft is a challenge for department and social vigil is must for stopping the
theft leading to electricity loses.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the PDD authorities to conduct
frequent field visits along with police and concerned district administration
to keep a check on ‘hooking’ and other means of power theft adding that erring officer/official
found indulging in wrong practices would have to face the music.
Dr Singh also asked the engineers to maintain a buffer stock of
transformers in the central workshop.
The Dy CM
was informed that 'Whatsapp' group of PDD officers in each district has been
created to receive complaints and monitor the response to address public
outcry. He asked the officers to give wide publicity of mobile numbers through
media.
A call centre at Gladni Grid Sub Station has been made fully functional
for operating 24X7 to address public grievances, Dy CM was further informed.
