New Delhi, Jul 31 :  Attorney General KK Venugopal, top law officer representing the Union government, today requested the Supreme Court to take necessary action against the Samajwadj Party (SP) leader Azam Khan for allegedly obstructing justice in connection with the Bulandshahr gangrape case. Khan, a former Minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, had reportedly remarked that the Bulandshahr gangrape case was a political conspiracy. A bench, headed by Justice Dipak Misra, and also comprising Justice AM Khanwilkar, heard arguments in the case involving Khan. The apex court had in December last year accepted the unconditional apology tendered by Khan for his statement. The Supreme Court decided to hear the matter on the issue of whether such kind of remarks made by politicians are correct. UNI
