DC Bandipora reviews drug de-addiction measures

BANDIPORA, JULY 05: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Sajad Hussain, today convened a meeting to discuss preventive measures as well as strategies for curbing the menace of drug addiction.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, senior officers from Health, Police, Revenue, Municipal Committee, Social Welfare, other departments besides NGOs representatives were also present in the meeting. 

          Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to organize public awareness camps and workshops to sensitize people particularly about the harmful results of the substance abuse.

The DC impressed upon the officers to take necessary steps for destroying bung cultivation in the district. He also directed the concerned to ensure checking of medical shops to monitor the sale banned drugs in the district.

The meeting also discussed Capacity Building Programmes which would be conducted at various places for raising awareness about ill effects of drug addiction.
