SHOPIAN, JULY 15: District Development
Commissioner Shopian, Mohammad Aijaz today inspected ongoing maintenance works
especially blacktopping on historical Mughal Road from Shopian to Peer Ki Gali.
DDC
was accompanied by Executive Engineer Mughal Road Division Shopian. He was
apprised that required men and machinery has been put in place for blacktopping
and slide clearance on Historic Mughal Road.
DDC
directed the concerned officers to cover all the patches upto Peer Ki Gali
within a stipulated time to make the road fit for the smooth plying of
traffic. He further directed the Executive Engineer Mughal Road to restore
the drains wherever they have been breached and also take up the protection
works at the earliest.
The
DDC asserted that Historic Mughal Road provides an alternate connectivity for
Kashmir valley to the rest of India and has a got tremendous impact on the
economy of Kashmir division and in particular to district Shopian.
It
should be noted here that the fruit growers association are pressing for hassle
free opening of the Mughal Road as the fruit season is very near and the road
provides them extra connectivity in transporting their fruit to rest of the
country. The supply of essential commodities especially during summer also gets
facilitated through the NH-4A road.
