Dy Speaker reviews arrangements for Gurez festival

3-Day fest to commence from Aug 4

          SRINAGAR, JULY 06: Deputy Speaker and MLA Gurez, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, today convened a meeting to review the arrangements for Gurez festival which shall commence from August 04 to 06, 2017 in Gurez.

          Commissioner Secretary to Government Civil Aviation Department, Additional Secretary to CM, Additional Secretary Tourism, MD JKTDC, GM JKTDC, Director Tourism, Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Deputy Director Information, Deputy SP (Headquarters) Bandipora, GM Pawan Hans Limited and other concerned officers were present in the meeting. 

It was given out 3-Day Gurez festival would be arranged by the Department of Tourism in collaboration with JKTDC and District administration with the main aim to highlight the potential of tourism of Gurez. During the fest, numerous vibrant and entertaining cultural programs would be performed by the local artists, theatre artists and also by school and college students.

          Giving the salient features of the Gurez festival, the meeting was informed that conventional handicrafts, sumptuous cuisine and the rich culture programmes along with various sports activities would be part of 3-Day fest.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Speaker and MLA Gurez directed the Tourism Department to create mass awareness of the festival in print and electronic media besides at Airport and Yatra points. He asked officials to arrange boarding and lodging in collaboration with District Administration for visiting tourists. He also directed JKTDC to provide food court during the festival in the area.

          MLA asked to DC Bandipora to hire paying guest rooms from the locals so that down trodden people of Gurez earn some livelihood during the festive days.

Later, MLA Gurez provided Rs 5 lakh from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the Gurez Festival.

Gurezi asked Commissioner Civil Aviation Department to run Helicopter services on daily basis from Bandipora to Gurez on subsided rates for one month.For the development of Helipads at Kanzalwan, Davar, PTL, Neeru and Buduaab area, DC Bandipora was asked to submit a DPR to the Civil Aviation Department.

            Deputy Speaker and MLA Gurez directed DC Bandipora to purchase a new bus from his CDF account of Rs. 17 lakh for the students of Telail (Gurez) area.
