MLA Baramulla chairs meeting to review progress of decongestion of Old Town

        

          BARAMULLA, JULY 22: In order to speed up the works on decongestion of old town project, MLA Baramulla Javed Hassan Beigh today chaired a meeting with concerned officers.

          Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, ADC, SE R&B, PDD, Joint Director Planning, ACR, Tehsildar Baramulla, senior officers of PDD, R&B and concerned officers attended the meeting. 

          The main aim of this project is to decongest the old town Baramulla by removing some existing structures to pave way for constructing multi-lane road in the interior areas.

          Speaking on the occasion, Javed Hassan Beigh asked for better coordination between public and the district administration as a way out for better planning and development prospects of the town.

          The DC apprised the MLA about various developmental projects being executed by various agencies in the district. The MLA directed for accelerating the pace of works for on time completion and thereby benefits to the people. He also reiterated for proper compensation as per rule to owners whose land or any other property forms part of the decongestion project.
          Further meeting was decided that shopkeepers who had got dislocated under decongestion project will be given shops in the upcoming shopping complex on priority basis. Meanwhile Irrigation and Flood Control department were directed to identify fresh spot on the bank of River Jhelum for its beautification.
