Shutdown continued for the third day today in parts of the central Kashmir district of Badgam, where a youth was killed allegedly in security force firing on July 21 during demonstrations after Friday prayers.


Srinagar, Jul 24 : Shutdown continued for the third day today in parts of the central Kashmir district of Budgam, where a youth was killed allegedly in security force firing on July 21 during demonstrations after Friday prayers. Mobile internet service also remained suspended for the fourth day today to prevent spread of any rumours in the parts of Budgam. Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the road in Beerwah and adjoining areas. Work in government offices, banks and educational institutions was also affected due to strike. A youth was killed when security forces opened fire to disperse demonstrators after Friday prayers at Beerwah. Though there were no restrictions in part of the Badgam, additional security forces and state police personnel have been deployed in strength to prevent any law and order problem. UNI
