SRINAGAR,
JULY 25: A spokesman of the Power Development Department (PDD) has denied the
news items which appeared in a section of press regarding alleged pilferage of
electricity. He said necessary steps are already in place to arrest the
tendency, if present.
The
spokesman further said that 600 FIRs have been lodged against those who have
been found indulging in the practice of power theft and an amount of Rs 1 crore
fine has been imposed on them. He further stated that 600 power connections
have been regularized and 277 illegal ones disconnected.
