5 new Ration Depots to be opened at Migrant Township Jagti
JAMMU, JULY 24 – Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Information,
Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today directed the concerned to start the process of
preparing new ration cards for Kashmiri migrants under relief and non-relief
categories so that they don’t face any difficulty in getting
rations.
The Minister issued these directions while inspecting ration depots at
Migrants Township in Jagti here.
The Minister said five new ration depots would be opened in the Migrant
Township for hassle-free distribution of rations.
While inspecting the ration depots at Jagti, the Minister enquired about
the supply and stock position, quality of food-grains and rates of essential
commodities. The Minister directed Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner
(Migrants) to submit a list of beneficiaries under different categories in the
Migrant Township so that transparency and accountability is maintained in
ration distribution.
He further directed the officers to ensure adequate quantity of ration
is distributed to the beneficiaries and proper weighing scales are used at the
ration depots. He asked them to conduct regular inspection at fair price shops
and submit real time feedback to his Office daily.
While inspecting Food Godown, Nagrota, the Minister checked the samples
of food grains and stock position in the godown. He directed the concerned
officers to ensure proper stacking and timely distribution of wheat, rice and
sugar in different parts of Jammu division.
He further asked them to take up repair and renovation works of the
godown, besides carrying out plantation drive and maintaining cleanliness in
and around the complex.
In the day, the Minister also inspected Govt. Ration Depot, Khanpur and
directed for timely distribution of ration to the consumers.
Director, FCS&CA Jammu R A Inquilabi, Relief and Rehabilitation
Commissioner (Migrants) M L Raina, Deputy Controller, LMD Manoj Prabhakar,
Assistant Director, Trade and Stores, Jammu Ankush Hans and other officers of
the department accompanied the minister during the visit.
