New Delhi, Jul 29 : The Lok Sabha will take up the much-awaited discussion on 'mob lynchings and cow-vigilante' on Monday, July 31, sources said here with both the ruling side and the opposition camp agreeing for a day-long debate. "If necessary, the debate can be extended to the next day also," sources said. From the principal Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge will be the main debater leading the charge while Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is also expected to participate. However, the language of the motion -- whether it could include the phrase 'mob lynching' has not been finalised yet, sources said. From the government and BJP side - one of the speakers could be a woman MP, sources said. The opposition and the government were engaged in a fierce duel in the Lok Sabha this week with either side attacking the other. While Mr Kharge has said that the government was running away from the debate, he was supported by CPI-M member Mohammed Salim also. For the part of government, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar sought to make it clear that the government has always been ready for the debate on all issues including the alleged mob-lynching. Meanwhile, the BJP sources said that during the debate on Monday, BJP members would try to also expose the "double standards" of opposition when it comes to violence against majority community. This would be certainly in reference to violence in Basirhat region in West Bengal and what BJP leaders say the "state sponsored political violence" in Kerala. UNI
