New Delhi, Jul 15 : Although the ruling BJP-led NDA is exuding confidence of victory of Ram Nath Kovind in the Presidential elections, Opposition's Presidential nominee Meira Kumar will hold an interactive session with the Members of Parliament of the opposition parties including Congress, Left parties and others tomorrow here. According to sources, united opposition's candidate for Vice-President Gopalkrishna Gandhi will also be present on the occasion. Seventeen opposition parties including the Congress, the Left parties, Trinamool, BSP, Samajwadi, DMK, NCP, RJD, JMM, JD-S and National Conference are supporting former Lok Sabha Speaker Ms Kumar, while among other opposition leaders, the JD(U) is also supporting the NDA’s nominee Ram Nath Kovind. However, JD(U) leaders who have pledged to support BJP nominee Ram Nath Kovind for the Presidential elections may not attend tomorrow’s meeting. Senior JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav today separately met Congress president Sonia Gandhi and besides Bihar's political situation, both the leaders could have deliberated on Presidential and Vice President's elections. Even as numbers are staked against the opposition parties, Congress, Left and parties like Trinamool Congress have made a common cause and is trying to build up a front for 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The Presidential election will take place on Monday, July 17, and the polling to the post of Vice-President will be held on August 5. While opposition has named Mr Gopalkrishna Gandhi for Vice-President's post, the BJP and NDA have to announce the candidate's name at the earliest, as the last date for filing nomination for Vice-President's post is July 18. The BJP Parliamentary party executive and the NDA members are meeting separately on Sunday here, sources said. UNI
