Jammu, Jul 16 : A truck driver was arrested today with contraband of poppy straw on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur district.
"A drug peddler was arrested and 17 Kg Poppy Straw was recovered from his possession," police spokesperson here said.
He said that police party from Chennai intercepted a truck bearing registration at a Naka.
"During search police party recovered 17 Kg Poppy straw from the possession of the driver Waryam Singh, resident of Sarna, Pathankot, Punjab, who was transporting the contraband from Kashmir Valley towards Punjab," spokesperson said
He said that a case under NDPS Act has been registered and investigation started. UNI
