Lucknow, Jul 29: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment and president of the Republican Party of India (Athawale) Ramdas Athawale today suggested for increasing the reservation facilities to 75 per cent in the country while giving the additional 25 per cent to the economical weaker sections and other castes which are demanding it for long. "Our party has suggested that the reservation should be made up to 75 per cent with adding 25 per cent more and the economical weaker section of the society, whose family income is not more than Rs 6 lakh annually and some other castes who are demanding for it since long, could be accommodated," he told a press conference here. The Union Minister said, 'There is nothing wrong in increasing the reservation quota to include the economical backward castes and an amendment in the Constitution can fulfill the aspiration.' The RPI President also suggested that Uttar Pradesh should be divided in two parts with one being Poorvanchal and its capital as Varanasi so that the atrocities against the Dalits are minimised. "As per the government figure, there are around 45,000 Dalit atrocities case in the country in a year and in 2016-17 in UP it was 8,915, which was highest in the country. Such thing will only stop when there is good control on law and order and it will only happen if UP is divided in two parts," he said. Mr Athawale also demanded from UP CM Yogi Adityanath to waive off Rs 232 crore of the pending loans of the khet majdoor and Dalits taken from Schedule Caste Development Corporation in the state. "It is a good move by the UP government to waive off farm loans to the tune of Rs 36,000 crore, but now if another Rs 232 crore are waived off then, it would benefit the Dalits the most," he said while announcing to write a letter to the CM on this issue soon. The RPI president also lambasted Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati for resigning from the Rajya Sabha and termed it a drama. "She was just trying to gain sympathy among the people by targeting the BJP. When the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha are from Congress, then how can she blame the BJP for not allowing her to speak in the House," he said. He also demanded to formulate some stringent law against the so called 'gau rakshak' for unleashing terror on the Dalits. Mr Athawale also announced that RPI would be revived in the state in a big way while registering over 50,000 new members and holding a big rally in Lucknow in March. UNI
