42 children die in BRD Medical College in 46 hours

Gorakhpur, Aug 30: Forty two children have died in the Baba Raghav Das Medical College (BRD) Hospital in last 46 hours. "42 children died in 48 hours of which 7 due to encephalitis, rest due to other reason” Dr PK Singh Principal BRD medical college confirmed. Mr Singh said that from August 26 midnight to August 27 midnight 6 deaths were reported from NICU, while 11 deaths were reported from ICU. While till August 28 midnight 10 deaths were reported from NICU and 15 from ICU. So in 48 hours total 42 deaths were reported. BRD Principal said that in these 42 deaths only 7 died of encephalitis, while others were normal deaths. He said that the reason for the number of deaths was seasonal infection. Mr Singh also said that from August 26 to August 29, 11 deaths were reported from encephalitis, while 19 new patients suffering from same disease were admitted in hospital. UNI
