6,731 votes polled in Citizens’ Co-operative Bank’s election in Jammu

Jammu, Aug 23 :  As many as 6731 votes were polled to elect nine member Board of Directors of Citizens’ Co-operative Bank Ltd Jammu, the elections for which were held here today.
The voting began early morning at twenty five polling stations set across the district including three in outskirts at R S Pura, Vijaypur and Akhnoor.
‘’Only 6731 votes out of a total of 24,884 eligible voters cast their votes today as against 4431 during the previous elections held in 2012,’’ an official here said.
He said that with about 27 to 30 percent votes polled today there has been an increase of about 52 percent voting in comparison to the last election.
He further added that 45 candidates were in fray for nine posts while the counting shall be held here tomorrow at Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar from 0800 hours onwards. UNI
