Jammu, Aug 29 :  The Border Security Force (BSF) troops foiled an exfiltration bid and arrested three Bangladeshi nationals, including two teenagers, along International Border (IB) in Jammu district, police said today.

BSF troops guarding IB in R S Pura sector observed some movement of the people yesterday and later arrested 3 persons, who turned out to be Bangaldeshi nationals, police officials said here.

They were trying to exfiltrate to Pakistan side. BSF handed them over to the police, which registered a case and grilled the foreigners, the officials said.

One mobile phone, 2 sim cards and over Rs 600 in Bangladeshi currency were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Abdul Kareem (20), Mohmmad Ali (18) and Mohmmad Jahangir (18).

As per reports they had taken a train to reach the Jammu and from there they headed to border to cross over to Pakistan under the guidance of a guide.

The trio have been sent to Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) to carry out the thorough investigation about the purpose, police added.PTI



          JAMMU JUNE 14: In order to execute work for erection of poles and stringing of 33 KV line conductor for shifting of load from Janipur Grid to Barn Grid, the shutdown of 33 KV Barn Bhalwal-Thathar-Bantalab line, 33kv Purkhoo line and Gharota line is being observed.
          During the shutdown, the power supply to Nardni, Raipur, MES, Radio Station, CRPF, PHE, Local Batal, Telephone Exchange, Aux. Hospital, Bantalab, Purkhoo and Gharota shall remain affected on June 17 and 18 from 6 am to 12 noon.
          Similarly, to carry out the stringing work between Loc No. 35/1 to 35/2, the Shutdown of 11 KV Kulliyan feeder and 33 KV Badyal Brahmana feeder is also being observed.
          During the shutdown, the power supply to Kulliyan, Hotli, Thekrian, Narietc (R.S Pura) being fed from 11 KV Kulliyan feeder shall remain affected on June 17 from 6 am to 12 noon.
          Likewise, the power supply to Badyal Brahmana (R.S.Pura) being fed from 33 KV Badyal Brahmana feeder at R.S Pura shall remain affected on June 17 from 6 am to 12 noon.

Inaugurates sanitary napkin manufacturing unit at R S Pura
        JAMMU, MAY 26: Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta today said that the State government has flagged women’s welfare as a priority as it is keen to see them empowered and progressing in all walks of life.
Kavinder Gupta was addressing a huge gathering of workers and local women after inaugurating a manufacturing unit of sanitary napkins “Stree Swabhiman” here at R.S Pura.
The unit is a CSC initiative for promoting women’s health and hygiene.
Welcoming the new venture in R S Pura, Dy CM said that the empowerment of women is imperative for the development of any society and the government is committed to facilitate women in improving their living standards. He hoped more such units would be set up to make available affordable sanitary pads and promote better menstrual hygiene among women.
He further said that the product will be affordable to rural women and it will help them discard their traditional method of using unhygienic cloth. Minister accentuated that educated youth should come forward and took benefits of the schemes and programmes initiated by government. “Especially, unemployed youth can take the benefits of government sponsored schemes like PMEGP, CMEGP, Udaan and many more alike” he said. 
Meanwhile, the Dy. CM also distributed schools bags, books, water bottles and other stationary among the students of Government Middle School Senarki, District Samba. He said that government is committed to provide free education to the needy children especially girl child.  
Earlier, he also inaugurated newly constructed two ACR buildings at Government Boys Middle School Gorakh Nagar completed at an estimated cost of Rs 8.27 lakh and a toilet complex constructed under Swachh Bharat Mission and completed at an estimated cost of 13 lakh.    

 Stresses on effective implementation of schemes
JAMMU, MAY 25: Minister for Housing and Urban Development Sat Sharma today chaired  a meeting to review the functioning of Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board and the progress of various developmental works being carried out by the department
The meeting was attended by Financial Commissioner Housing and Urban Development Department, Krishan Ballabh Agarwal, Managing Director Housing Board Manmohan Singh, besides other senior officers and engineers of Housing Board.
The meeting was informed that the Housing Board has generated Rs 24.50 cr revenue in the year 2017-18.
While reviewing the status of PMAY-HFA(Urban) Mission, the Minister was informed that Housing Board has got approval for 14036  houses under central assistance of Rs 210 crore and work has been started for 2000 houses in the state, which are at different stages of completion.  It was informed that status based geo-tagging of these dwelling units has also been completed.
The Minister was informed that  25 cities- towns   of the state would be covered under PMAY Phase-I    including   Jammu, R S Pura, Samba, Kathua, Basholi, Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, Ramban, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah and Doda of Jammu division and  Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Anantnag, Bijbehara, Shopian, Pulwama, Baramulla, Sopore, Handwara, Kupwara, Leh and Kargil   in Kashmir division .
The Minister directed the authorities for effective implementation of various components of the scheme.  He asked them to hold review meetings twice a month to assess the progress and process of implementation of the Housing for All Schemes.
            To cater to the increasing Housing demands in urban areas, the Minister directed for vertical expansion of cities by construction of residential flats in different colonies of Housing board. He further directed the Managing Director to expedite the work for development of Kathua and Reasi Housing colonies. He also directed for allotment in respect of 93 plots in Kathua through lottery draw.
Earlier, M D Housing Board gave detailed resume  about working of the board which include  contract of infrastructure development of various other departments and development of own housing colonies and settlement of ownership issues in different colonies of the state.
The Minister was informed that all the records of the Housing board have been digitized and efforts are on to switch over to complete e-Governance system.
        Later, a deputation of JKHB daily wagers met the Minister and apprised him about their grievances regarding regularization.

Announces to examine raising of Police battalion comprising border youth, extending facilities to people living on IB on the pattern of LoC people, raising Border Bhawans in urban areas
JAMMU, MAY 25: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today visited the border areas of R S Pura, Samba and other places of Jammu province which have been severely hit by the cross border shelling of past few days. She interacted with the affected people and took an on the spot appraisal of their difficulties and demands.
Minister for Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction and Disaster Management, Javed Mustafa Mir accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.
The Chief Minister visited R S Pura and met the affected people presently put up at the local ITI, Chakroi Farm and Satarian.
Interacting with the people, the Chief Minister said she is deepy distressed and anguished due to the continued flare up on the borders and sought an immediate end to it to save the people of border areas from more losses of life, property and peace. She appealed the leadership of Pakistan to respect the sentiment of Ramadhan and respond positively to the Ramadhan ceasefire announced by the Centre recently. This, she said, has led people of the State to heave a sigh of relief and now the need is to extend this gesture to borders as well for which she asked Pakistan to respond positively. She reminded people that complete peace prevailed along the borders in the State for more than a decade after the ceasfire at borders reached at in 2003.
Respinding to the demands of the local people, Mehbooba Mufti announced that her Government would examine the demand of raising a battalion of JK Police comprising of youth exclusively from border areas. She also assured them that her Government would look into their demand of bringing people living in areas along International Border (IB) at par with those of LoC areas in terms of facilities, perks or any incentives.
The Chief Minister also assured the people that steps would be taken to construct Border Bhawans in urban areas for the people of border areas where they can stay during the difficult times. She said her Governmet has already got the loss to livestock included in the compensation package by the Centre.
Responding to other demands, Mehbooba Mufti said the local hospital at R S Pura would be inducted with more facilities in terms of equipments and manpower and also the local Veterinary unit would  be provided more facilities.
Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Choudhary and MLA, Dr. Gagan Bhagat were present on the occasion.
Later, the Chief Minister visited Samba and interacted with the people from border areas at Thandi Khui and Chichi Mata Mandir.
Here also, the people of border areas raised similar demands and the Chief Minister assured to look into them. She also assured to look into the issues of late settlement of compensation cases and early settlement of other compensation cases.
Minister for Health & Medical Education, Dr. Devinder Manyal was also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister also gave away Rs. One lakh each to the kin of those killed in the cross border shelling in these areas. This is over and above the ex gratia extended to them by the Jammu Divisional administration already.
Chief Secretary, B B Vyas; Director General of Police, Dr. S P Vaid; Principal Secretary, Home, R K Goyal; Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Rohit Kansal; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Hemant Sharma; IGP Jammu zone, SDS Jamwal and senior officers of Divisional and district administrations also accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.

JAMMU, MAY 25: Expressing grave concern over unabated killing of people on the borders, the Team Jammu today regretted that residents of Jammu region have became victim of the ‘political ceasefire’ announced by the BJP led NDA government at the Centre to keep coalition partner PDP and anti-India separatist groups of Kashmir Valley in good humour.
Addressing a meeting of the executive committee members of the Team Jammu to review situation on the borders, Chairman of Team Jammu Zorawar Singh Jamwal lamented on-going blood-bath on the borders of Jammu region has authenticated the allegation that BJP led government at the Centre has made this region as laboratory of its ‘political experiments’ to appease Kashmir centric groups, be it mainstreams parties or separatists groups, who preached secessionism.
“The way Jammu region has been ignored in taking important decision it appears that Centre has decided to conduct all its political experiment in this region by playing with lives and emotions of the people of Jammu”, Mr Zorawar Singh Jamwal said and regretted that despite opposition by the Jammu people Union Government had announced unilateral and unconditional ceasefire for the holy month of Ramzan due to pressure from Kashmir Centric parties. “After announcement of unilateral ceasefire violence has been shifted in Southern  region of Jammu as anti-national elements with the support of some Kashmir centric groups have divert their attention on Jammu”, he said and added that it was all due directions from the Union Government BSF deployed on the International Border (IB) was reportedly directed not to retaliate firing from Pakistani side.
“It is result of the unilateral ceasefire of BJP led Centre government that Pakistan has started shelling border areas of Jammu district because Rangers across the border were very much aware that hands of their counterparts in India have been tied by the political leadership”, he said and regretted that BJP led Union Government has crossed all limits of appeasement.
Pointing towards Thursday evening terror attack at Jammu Bus Stand, Mr Zorawar Singh Jamwal said that this incident is an eye-opener for those who were in the forefront in demanding unilaterlal ceasefire in the month of Ramzan. “By announcing unilateral ceasefire Union Government has shown its weakness and this step has encouraged terrorists and their masterminds in Pakistan”, he said and added that those who propagated the idea of announcing ceasefire in the holy month of Ramzan were responsible for the killings on the borders as well as in the hinterlands.
Meanwhile, volunteers of Team Jammu today visited border affected areas reportedly in R.S. Pura Belt and Glad & Banglad belts of district Samba and interacted with Border migrants. Anupam Sambyal led Samba Team while Narinder Sharma and Sulabh Mahajan lead volunteers in R.S. Pura. After interacting with Border firing victims, they demanding proper arrangements for the people besides giving befitting reply to Pakistan.


Express solidarity with shelling hit families
JAMMU, May 24: Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta today visited firing affected border villages of R. S. Pura, Suchetgarh and Arnia and took stock of the situation and inspected facilities made available for inmates at the make-shift relief camps.
Accompanied by Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Choudhary, Member Parliament Jugal Kishore, Legislators Ravinder Raina and GaganBhagat, the Dy CM took on the spot review of facilities made available at the shelter and relief camps established for border firing victims by the administration at Higher Secondary School R. S. Pura, ITI College R. S. Pura, Chakroi Panchayat GharJojawal and other places.  
The Dy CM asked the concerned officers to make sure that these people do not suffer for want of necessary amenities.  He gave instructions to the concerned agencies to ensure adequate supply of ration, LPG, electricity and other essential commodities to the affected people.
Kavinder Gupta, while interacting with the local people, enquired about the problems being faced by them in the wake of continuous shelling from across the border.  The villagers apprised Dy CM of the need for construction of permanent bunkers. They also demanded for making provision for one room flat at safer places and timely disbursement of compensation to NoK of those killed in cross border firing, etc.
Kavinder, Sham and Jugal Kishore assured the people living in the relief camps that it is the prime concern of the Government to provide every facility to them. They also informed that the Centre Government has already enhanced compensation for Next of the Kin of those killed in border firing from Rs 1 lakh to 5 lakh.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Hemant Kumar Sharma, IGP Jammu Zone S. D. Singh, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Superintending Engineer PDD, SDM R.S. Pura, Tehsildar R.S. Pura, besides senior functionaries of various department accompanied the Deputy CM.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister also attended the last rites of a man who died in cross border firing yesterday. He also conveyed his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Meanwhile, the Dy CM convened meeting at SDM Office R. S. Pura with civil and police administration and had detailed information regarding the measures being put in place to provide necessary help to the affected people.
Kavinder directed the concerned officers to remain available in the camps to redress the problems of the people and ensure provision of all basic amenities so that inmates don’t face any inconvenience on this account.
Deputy Chief Minister also directed the health authorities to provide adequate health care facilities besides asking the concerned to provide mobile health unit for livestock as well.
Application begins at Directorate of RD
JAMMU, MAY 24: A two-day training programme regarding the operating of Panchayat Enterprise Suite (PES) Application organized by   Regional Extension Training Centre (RETC), R. S. Pura started here today at Directorate of Rural Development.
The programme was inaugurated by Director Rural Development Jammu Ravinder Kumar Bhat and it will continue for two days.
The training is being imparted to the CIC Operators working in various districts of Jammu Division.
The main focus of training is to get familiar with the Modules of PES applications including Plan Plus, Local Government Directory updation, Updation of Priya soft, Service Plus, ActionSoft, Area Profiler, National Panchayat Portal, National Asset Directory, Social Audit and Meeting Management, Training Management Portal and Audit online.
While highlighting the objectives of the training programme, Director, Rural Development stressed upon the trainee to implement the PES in letter and spirit. He asked the participant to upload the Gram Panchayat Development plan (GPDP) on the plan plus module of the PES Portal as the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) has under taken e-Panchayat on mission mode project (e-Panchayat MMP) with a view to introduce and strengthen e-governance in Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) across the country and build associated capacities of the PRIs for the effective adoption of the e-governance initiatives.
Assistant Commissioners Development, Jammu and Udhampur M. L. Tasirand NoorAlam, Principal, RETC, Sanchi Misra BDO(HQ) Ravdeep Kour and Master trainers were also present on the occasion.


JAMMU, MAY 23: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, today visited firing affected border villages and took stock of damages.
Accompanied by CMO, SDM R.S Pura, a team of doctors of Animal Husbandry Department and officers of various departments, the DC visited villages in Arnia, Suchetgarh and R.S Pura to assess the damage to property and livestock. He also discussed and issued instructions to the local officers to make all possible arrangements to provide essential services to the people lodged in temporary camps established by the administration.
Meanwhile, border residents presented various demands to which the DDC assured to take necessary steps.
The DC appealed the people to maintain peace and amity and cooperate with the security agencies, civil administration which is taking adequate steps for ensuring their safety. He further directed Numberdars/Chowkidars to actively participate in relief and rescue measures at the times of evacuation.
The DC also inspected 7 lodgement centres in tehsil Bishnah, RS Pura and expressed satisfaction over the boarding and lodging facilities kept available there.  He further directed to make available first aid kits in camps. Directions were also issued to appoint Nodal officer from Health, PHE and PDD to monitor overall functioning of camps.

Direct admin to show prompt response to people’s needs
JAMMU, MAY 23: The Minister for Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Floriculture and Minister for PHE Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Choudhary today toured RS Pura and Samba areas and took stock of the situation in shelling affected border villages.  
The Ministers also met the families of two persons killed in cross border firing in village Samkha, and Satwali in Suchetgarh.
Responding to the issues raised by the border residents, the Relief Minister directed the local civil and police officers to prepare a comprehensive contingency plan to deal with any eventuality due to cross border firing. He asked them not to leave the station without informing the higher ups.
          The Ministers interacted with the local people and enquired about the problems being faced by them in the wake of continuous shelling from across the border. He was informed that women and children of some affected villages have been shifted to safer places.
The Relief Minister also directed the health authorities to set up mobile health units to provide prompt patient care to locals as also mobile veterinary units to attend to livestock.
The people highlighted their grievances and requirements and demanded tents, identification of safer places for shelter in case of any eventuality and related services.
Sham Choudhary asked the administration to furnish a detailed data about requirements of the people and meet the same in a well planned manner
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Hemant Kumar Sharma, DC Jammu Rajeev Ranjan and other senior officers of other departments were also present on the occasion.
Later, the relief Minister also visited shelter camps established by Samba administration for accommodating the border residents displaced due to cross border shelling.  
The Minister asked the administration to be in ready mode for prompt response in case of any exigency. He also inspected facilities available for the people at the shelter camps.  
Mir visited the camps at Chichi Mata and 17th mile. The administration has made elaborate   arrangements for accommodating maximum number of people in the camps, the Minister was told.


Says people want to live peacefully, expects positive response to ceasefire by all sides
`World moving to peaceful engagements as violence kills, both humans and spirits’
JAMMU, MAY 21: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today visited R S Pura and condoled with the families whose kin were killed in cross border shelling at Arnia and R S Pura during past few days.
Interacting with the people there, the Chief Minister described the killings as highly unfortunate addingthese occurred when the holy month of Ramadhan had just begun and people had heaved sigh of relief due to the Centre’s welcome step of halting security operations in the State.
Mehbooba Mufti said the people of the State, who have gone through very tough times in the past, want to live a peaceful life free from violence and killings. She said the Centre’s move of halting security operations has generated a hope among people who expect positive reciprocation to it by all stakeholders to let people of the State come out of the zero-sum game of killings and uncertainty.
The Chief Minister said world over people are coming to peaceful engagement of issues as acrimony and violence has led them nowhere except deaths, destruction and devastation. She said the way North and South Korea decided to walk on peaceful engagement is an encouraging signal to the entire world that issues, no matter how complex these might be, can only be settled through negotiations peacefully as violence only kills, both humans and spirits as well.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister disbursed cash assistance of Rs. one lakh each among the families whose kin were killed in the cross-border shelling of past few days. This assistance is over and above the ex gratia relief already paid to them through Jammu Divisional administration. She also directed the Jammu Divisional administration to prepare a report of the damages suffered to houses and dwelling units during the border shelling.
Mehbooba Mufti conveyed her heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls.

Directs swift evacuation, better treatment of injured
SRINAGAR, MAY 18: Minister for Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, Javaid Mustafa Mir, today expressed grief over the killing of five people including an Army Jawan in cross-border firing in RS Pura sector.
The Minister directed concerned Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of border areas to reach out to the people in shelling-hit areas for effective rescue and medicare facilities.
He called upon the district administration Jammu for early evacuation and shifting of injured to hospitals, besides also keep the availability of ambulances in place to meet any exigency.
He said the district administration has established shelters for evacuees and bulletproof vehicles are being used for the evacuation process.
The Minister further directed the concerned to ensure that proper medical facilities are provided to the people injured in the shelling and also directed to relocate the left-out populace to safe places in case of any eventuality.
“The government is in touch with the district administration and is monitoring the situation, while as medical heads and other staff has been directed to be available round-the-clock for better treatment of injured”, the Minister added.

‘Asks administration be ready to meet any eventuality’
JAMMU, MAY 18:  Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today chaired a meeting of sectoral officers at SDM Office R S Pura and took stock of the preparedness of the administration to deal with any exigency in the wake of prevailing situation in border villages of R S Pura and Bishnah tehsils of Jammu District.
The Minister convened the meeting after he had interaction with people staging protest in R S Pura with dead bodies of two persons of village Chandu Chak who lost their lives in cross border firing today.
Interacting with the people, the Minister expressed solidarity with the families, adding that the government would extend every possible help to the NoKs.
Directing the police authority for keeping available bullet proof bunker to shift people during cross-border firing, Sham Choudhary asked the law enforcement agencies to remain on high alert and take swift action, if any emergency arises. He asked the concerned to ensure adequate supply of ration, LPG cylinders, K Oil, uninterrupted power and water supply in the camps. He directed for regular power supply in the border villages especially during night.
Directing the Health authorities for deputing 4 additional doctors in Community Health Centre R S Pura, the Minister asked to station adequate number of ambulances at health institutions of the area and keep the staff alert for dealing with any eventuality. He also asked the Animal Husbandry Department to provide free medicines to people whose livestock is injured in the cross-border firing.
Sham Choudhary directed SDM, R S Pura to identify the places for setting up of more temporary shelters at safer places and inform the people accordingly so that they can get safe places at the time of emergency. He also directed the education department for issuing order with regard to closer of education institutions falling within 4 kilometres from zero line.
The Minister was informed that six camps have been set up at different as temporary shelter of people shifted from border villages. These camps have been established at Bana Singh Stadium, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, R S Pura, Government Boys Higher Secondary School, R S Pura, Social Welfare office R S Pura, Government Higher Secondary School, PindiSarochan and Government Higher Secondary School, Dablehar.
SDM, R S Pura, Additional SP Rural, SDPO, R S Pura, officers of line departments including Revenue, Health, Education, Power Development Department, PWD (R&B), Rural Development Department, Public Health Engineering, Irrigation & Flood Control, Agriculture, Horticulture, Social Welfare and Animal Husbandry attended the meeting.

Calls for reciprocating positively Centre’s peace move
SRINAGAR, MAY 18: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed deep shock and grief over the death of five persons, including a BSF jawan, who were killed in cross border firing incident in the R S Pura sector of Jammu today.
The Chief Minister described the incident as unfortunate saying it occurred when the holy month of Ramadhan had just begun and people had heaved sigh of relief due to the Centre’s welcome step of halting security operations in the State.
Mehbooba Mufti appealed for positive reciprocation by all stakeholders of the Centre’s peace move to let people of the State come out of the zero-sum game of killings and uncertainty.
The Chief Minister has conveyed her sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for the eternal solace to the departed souls.
Jammu, May 18: A BSF jawan and a couple were killed and eight civilians injured as Pakistan shelled heavily in Jammu and Samba districts early morning on Friday.
"Pakistani troops during wee hours on Friday yet again resorted to heavy mortar shelling in Arnia, R S Pura sectors of Jammu and Samba sectors," official sources here told.
They said that the cross-border shelling has so far left a BSF Jawan martyred, a couple killed and eight civilians injured.
"Pakistani troops started firing and shelling targeting Indian positions and civilian areas in Arnia, R S and adjoining Samba sectors during wee hours," they added.
BSF Jawan Sita Ram Upadhyay, 28 from Paliganj, Jharkhand deployed at a post in Arnia, was injured seriously in cross-border firing. He succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.
Civilian Farooq Ali of Joura Farm, R S Pura, also sustained injuries in firing and was rushed to the hospital.
Seven civilians injured in cross-border firing were admitted in GMC, out of which two have been identified as Payara Lal, 60, of R S Pura and Raman Kumar Gupta, 55, Treva, Arnia.
A couple identified as Tarsem Lal, and his wife Manjeet, residents of village Chandu Chak, R S Pura, who were injured in firing, succumbed.
Police sources also said that there are unconfirmed reports of two more deaths in Arnia sub-sector.
The BSF personnel retaliated effectively to the firing. Intermittent exchange of fire at some places was still continuing.
More than 15 border outposts and an equal number of villages are affected by the shelling.
The schools in the radius of 3-km from the border have also been ordered by the Sub-District Magistrate to remain closed on Friday in view of shelling.
A BSF Jawan was martyred in the firing by Pakistan's Rangers in Samba sector on Monday night foiling an infiltration bid by terrorists from across the border while a BSF Jawan and two civilians were injured in Pakistan's shelling in Samba and Hiranagar sectors on Thursday.
DG BSF, during Jammu visit, claimed that a group of five terrorists have infiltrated to this side.

Reviews veterinary services for injured livestock
JAMMU, JANUARY 20:  for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Gani Kohli today took stock of situation in shelling affected areas of  R S Pura.
The Minister took stock of the injuries and fatalities caused to livestock and directed the Animal Husbandry department to keep Veterinary teams   stationed in the firing hit areas for instant treatment of cattle. He also directed them to keep sufficient stock of medical aid and medicines in all affected areas.
MLA RS Pura Gagan Bagat, MLC CharanJeet Singh Khalsa, Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, ADC Jammu and other senior officers of district administration accompanied the Minister during the tour.
The Minister expressed shock over loss of lives of BSF personnel, and civilians. He paid tribute to the Martyrs and expressed   sympathies with the bereaved families.
Meanwhile, the Minister convened a meeting with the officers of district administration at Sub Divisional Magistrate Office, R S Pura and directed the concerned to ensure timely evacuation and rescue of civilians.
He also directed the officers to provide ration, medicine and other essential commodities to the people displaced due to shelling.
The Minister was informed that 25 to 30 Veterinary Doctor Teams have been deployed at various places along the International Border including R S Pura, Arnia and Ramgarh sectors to ensure early treatment to the livestock.   Kohli also asked them to conduct door to door visits in the affected areas to provide medical care to injured cattle and other animals. It was informed that    233 animals were killed and 370 injured since April 2017 to January 19, 2018 due to Pakistan shelling.
Earlier, Kohli visited Chakrohi Village and interacted with the local people. The people put forth problems caused due to shelling and sought early redressal of the issues. The Minister assured them that every possible help will be provided by the Government to the affected people including ration, medicines and other facilities like tents. He said that the instructions have been issued to the Animal Husbandry Department to provide fodder for animals in the affected areas.
Later, the Minister visited R S Pura Hospital and enquired about the facilities available for the treatment of the injured persons. The Minister asked the Management to take good care of the patients.


Jammu, Jan 19: Two civilians were killed and seven others injured when Pakistani troops opened fire along the International Border here early on Friday. 
Pakistan early morning fired heavily in Arnia, R S Pura sectors of Jammu and also targeted villages in Ramgarh sector of Samba and Hiranagar sector of Kathua, an official said here.
So far, there are reports of deaths of two civilian killings and injuries to seven in Arnia and R S Pura belts.
"Exchange of firing is on," said an official.
He said that BSF troops are befittingly replying to the cross-border firing.
The deceased were identified as Bachno Devi,50, resident of Saikhurd, Arnia killed in Border Firing in Arnia Sector and one Sahil, 25, resident of Kortana RS Pura.
Some of the injured, identified as Jeet Raj 55, resident of Saikhurd, his son Ravi Kumar and Krishan Lal, 50, son of Ujagar Singh of Kottana, R S Pura, are hospitalised.
A BSF soldier and a lady died on Thursday in Pak firing in Arnia.
DG BSF K K Sharma in Jammu had said that situation is tense and war-like along border, LC and commanders on ground have been asked to give a strong reply to the Pak firing. UNI
