Excise dept warns Bhang cultivators

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 09: Excise Department today issued a warning to Bhang cultivators to desist from the cultivation of narcotic plants.

The Department further directed the Bhang cultivators to destroy their crop within three days,failing which stern action shall be initiated against the culprits under the relevant provision of law.

Meanwhile, the Excise Department (ED) team headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, Central Kashmir Excise Range destroyed Bhang on 38 kanals of land in the village Bugam of Tehsil Chadoora, District Budgam. Second Excise team headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, North Kashmir destroyed Bhang on 21 kanals of land in village Gundboon of Tehsil Hajin, District Bandipora. Third Excise team headed by Excise & Taxation Officer South Kashmir Excise Range destroyed Bhang on 34 kanals of land in village Path Nambal and Adlash Magam of Tehsil Srigufwara, District Anantnag.           

          The Deputy Excise Commissioner informed that a total of 1568 kanals of Bhang have been destroyed across the valley by the Excise department.
