SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 21: According to the Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive Kashmir) of Excise Department, the sleuths of the department destroyed 155 kanals of the Bhang crop in the Wagama and Takyabla villages of district Anantnag and Hakabara village at Bandipora district.
It added that 5396 kanals of Bhang crop has been destroyed in the 3 ranges of Kashmir Division and the drive against same shall continue. The Excise and Taxation officers have been directed to act tough against the illegal bung cultivators.
Excise department warned cultivators to desist the cultivation of Bhang in future.

Excise department also said that an opportunity is being provided to the illegal cultivators to destroy the illegally cultivated Bhung within 3 days otherwise strict action will be taken against them as per the prescribed law.

PULWAMA, AUGUST 16: Deputy Commissioner Pulwama today chaired a meeting to review the preparations for  starting a drive against bhang cultivation in the District.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Executive Engineers of R&B, Assistant floriculture officer, Tehsildar Tral, Kakapora, Pampore and Pulwama and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
DDC told that the bung and other narcotics cultivation and related activities are dangerous for the entire society, particularly younger generation. He stressed on creating more awareness so that the drug menace is eradicated completely from the society.
  He said   that in this connection a massive drive will be started against bung cultivation in Pulwama District on 26th of this month at Charsoo Pulwama where large number of people including senior civil officers, civil society members and common people will take part in the destroying the bung along road sides and river banks.
He directed the concerned officers to provide equipment like brush cutters, sticks and sickles, so that maximum number of people can participate in the drive.

Srinagar, Aug 11 : Excise Department (ED) has warned all those who are cultivating bhang to destroy the banned crops within three days or face action as per law, an official spokesman said here today. However, despite destroying crops cultivated over thousands of kanals of land, no action was taken against any land owner in the valley, people, who are opposing narcotic plant cultivation, alleged. The spokesman said that ED has issued a strict warning that action as per the law would be initiated against the narcotic plant cultivators who fail to voluntarily destroy them within next three days. Continuing its anti-narcotics drive, the ED team destroyed bhang on 28 kanals of land in the village Nowbugh and Kasir Mullah Tehsil in central Kashmir district of Budgam. He said second Excise team destroyed bhang on 27 kanals of land in village Bagat Mohalla Shahgund in District Bandipora. Similarly, another team destroyed bhang on 20 kanals of land in village Krindgam Ladibal in Anantnag. The Deputy Excise Commissioner said that, so far, the Department has destroyed bhang on 1,643 kanals across the valley. However, so far no action was taken against any farmer who has cultivated bhang, people alleged. UNI

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 09: Excise Department today issued a warning to Bhang cultivators to desist from the cultivation of narcotic plants.
The Department further directed the Bhang cultivators to destroy their crop within three days,failing which stern action shall be initiated against the culprits under the relevant provision of law.
Meanwhile, the Excise Department (ED) team headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, Central Kashmir Excise Range destroyed Bhang on 38 kanals of land in the village Bugam of Tehsil Chadoora, District Budgam. Second Excise team headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, North Kashmir destroyed Bhang on 21 kanals of land in village Gundboon of Tehsil Hajin, District Bandipora. Third Excise team headed by Excise & Taxation Officer South Kashmir Excise Range destroyed Bhang on 34 kanals of land in village Path Nambal and Adlash Magam of Tehsil Srigufwara, District Anantnag.           

          The Deputy Excise Commissioner informed that a total of 1568 kanals of Bhang have been destroyed across the valley by the Excise department.

Srinagar, Aug 9 :  Authorities have destroyed bhang cultivation spread over 200 kanals of land in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district during the past 24 hrs. A police spokesman said here today that officials of Excise Department and Jammu and Kashmir police in its drive against the contraband crops, destroyed bung cultivation spread over a vast patch of land at village Shadipora in Ganderbal during day-long operation yesterday. Moreover, the team, headed by Safapora and Lar police stations, also destroyed a huge quantity of bhang at Bypass area. An official spokesman said that Excise Department (ED) team headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, Central Kashmir Excise Range destroyed Bhang on 68 kanals of land in the village Gund Rehman of Tehsil Tulmulla in District Ganderbal. He said second Excise team, headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, North Kashmir, destroyed Bhang on 36 kanals of land in village Shahgund of Tehsil Hajin of District Bandipora. Third Excise team, headed by Excise & Taxation Officer South Kashmir Excise Range, destroyed bhang on 56 kanals of land in village Path Nambal of Tehsil Srigufwara of District Anantnag. The Deputy Excise Commissioner said that so far, a total of about 1,500 kanals of bhang has been destroyed across the valley by the Excise department. Excise Department warned Bhang cultivators to desist from the cultivation of these narcotic plants. Cultivators are directed to destroy their crop within three days positively, failing which stern action shall be initiated against the culprits under the relevant provision of law. He said a team, headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, North Kashmir, destroyed bhang on 35 kanals of land in village Goshbug in north Kashmir district of Baramulla. Srinagar, Aug 8 :  Bhang cultivation spread over 1,381 kanals of land was destroyed during the last over a month by authorities at various places in Kashmir valley. An official spokesperson here today said that in its ongoing drive against bhang cultivation, the Excise Department has, so far, destroyed bhang on 1,381 kanals of land in various parts of Kashmir. He said a team, headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, Central Kashmir Excise Range, destroyed bhang on 40 kanals of land in the villages Haran and Saloora in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal yesterday. Whereas, he said second Excise team, headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, North Kashmir, destroyed bhang on 35 kanals of land in village Goshbug in north Kashmir district of Baramulla. Similarly, he said third Excise team, headed by Excise & Taxation Officer South Kashmir Excise Range, destroyed bhang on 26 kanals of land in village Path Nambal of Tehsil Srigufwara in south Kashmir district of Anantnag. SRINAGAR, AUGUST  04: According to the Deputy Excise Commissioner, Executive Kashmir, the Excise team headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, South Kashmir Excise Range destroyed Bhang on 10 kanals of land in village Sangam of district Anantnag.
 The Deputy Excise Commissioner informed that so far, a total land of 1167 kanals of Bhang have been destroyed in Kashmir valley by the Excise department.

Second Excise team headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, North Kashmir destroyed Bhang on 38 kanals of land in villages of Shahgund of Tehsil Hajan of District Bandipora. Third Excise team headed by Excise & Taxation Officer South Kashmir Excise Range destroyed Bhang on 18 kanals of land in village Sanmag bye pass, near Shuhul Floor Mill Batangoo.
         The Deputy Excise Commissioner said that so far, a total of 1157 kanals of Bhang have been destroyed in Kashmir valley by the Excise department.

Srinagar, Jul 29 :Jammu and Kashmir police arrested a charas smuggler and recovered contraband substance from his possession in Anantnag district, a police spokesman said here this afternoon. Meanwhile, bhung cultivation spread over 638 kanals of land has been destroyed by the Excise and Taxation (E&T) department in the Kashmir Valley, an official spokesman said. A police spokesman said on a specific information, a police party headed by SHO Aishmuqam laid a naka at Hangalpawa. During checking, a local resident Majid Khan was intercepted and about four kg of charas was recovered from his bag. Meanwhile, in its ongoing drive against bhung cultivation, the E&T Kashmir Department has, so far, destroyed bhang on 638 kanals of land in various parts of Kashmir. The Excise team headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, Central Kashmir Range, destroyed bhung on 35 kanals in the villages of Tangpore and Palpore in Srinagar yesterday. Another Excise team of North Kashmir Excise Range destroyed bhung on 82 kanals of land in village of Markundal in Bandipora. While as another Excise team of South Kashmir Excise Range destroyed bhung on 35 kanals of land in village Shaat Malooro in Shopian. The Department has said the drive will continue till the menace is rooted out from the Kashmir valley. UNI

SRINAGAR, JULY 25: Excise and Taxation (E&T) Kashmir department today destroyed Bhang on 46 kanals of land in various areas of Kashmir division.
In the villages of Pamposh Colony, Bakhshi Pora  and Bagh-e-Lal Bagh Gager Zoo in district Srinagar 28 kanals of land were destroyed by a team Excise and Taxation (E&T) officer, Central Kashmir Excise Range.
          Another Excise team of North Kashmir Excise Range under the command of Excise & Taxation Officer destroyed bhung on 21 kanals of land in village of  Ganiapura Ashma of Tehsil Sumbal of District Bandipora while the third Excise team of South Kashmir Excise Range headed by Excise & Taxation Officer destroyed bhung on 25 kanals of land in village Shaat Malooro Tehsil Zainapora of District Shopian.

          So far total bhung on 486 kanals of land has been destroyed by the Excise and Taxation department.

SRINAGAR, JULY 19: An Excise team headed by Excise and Taxation Officer Central Kashmir Range today destroyed Bhang on 32 kanals of land in the villages of Dudkhut and Potter falling in Tehsil and District Srinagar.
          The second Excise team of North Kashmir Range headed by Excise and Taxation Officer destroyed bhang on 29 kanals of land in villages of Asham and Banpur of Tehsil Sumbal of District Bandipora and the third team of South Kashmir Range headed by Excise and Taxation Officer destroyed bhung on 20 kanals of land in village Sether (Sangam) of Tehsil Bijbehara of District Anantnag.

          So far total bhung on 136 kanals of land has been destroyed.
